I was born in Buffalo, to my great regret, and grew up in Kenmore, one of Buffalo's close suburbs. Kenmore is a town so homogeneous that eating Wonder BreadTM there should be considered cannibalism. I got out as fast as I could.
I ran off to Main Line Philadelphia, to be a Physics major at Haverford College. I graduated with a B.S. in 1992. I wish now I'd taken more Philosophy classes. Oh well.
In the fall of 1992, I moved to Boston to attend grad school. Until January 1997, I was a graduate student in the Physics Department of Harvard University, working in the lab of Mara Prentiss.
Eventually, I just got sick of being a grad student. I realized I was having much more fun playing with computers than working on my experiment, so I decided to run off and join the Internet Circus. I made myself a Get Out of Grad School Free card and flew the coop. My motto at that point was "Friends Don't Let Friends Do Grad School".
I now work in the computer industry. It keeps me off the streets.
I have some hobbies.
I know some people.
Not to mention some cats.
